Practice Horror Trailer
This is the practise horror
trailer that we filmed at the start of the A2 year. It was loosely based on Don’t
Be Afraid of the Dark (2010).
In our practice horror
trailer we tried to build the tension as much as possible with the use of slow
montage and collision cutting in order to emphasize the jump scares and
tension. As our trailer was called ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ we tried to incorporate
as much dark and low key lighting as possible to ensure the name tied in with
the trailer, even though we did throughout a bright college day.
In the end, I think that we
came out with a really good trailer for the time, setting and the rest of restrictions
we had to work with.
Prop List
A list of props that we will need for our trailer are:
- A car
- Knife
- Chair
- Nightstand/bed-side cabinet with drawer
- Books/ things to hide hair in drawer
- Lamp to through against wall
- Rope to tie hands
- A house that we can use for the setting of the trailer
- Sack/Sheet to cover body in the boot of car

Swearing and Violence in my Horror Trailer
These are two trailers that contain both swearing and violence. I included this in my trailer because it gave it a sense of realism, allowing the audience to relate to it further, therefore making the horror more effective and scary. I also thought that this helped to convey the feelings of the characters better, showing a more realist sense of anger, fear etc.
